Composites design workshop II 15/01/2010
This unique workshop provides unmatched training for professionals with the latest methods and tools for designing composites. Traditional black aluminum and its many unscientific, entrenched practices and knock-down factors will be challenged. New, disciplined, self-consistent approach will empower engineers to make composites competitive, safe and damage tolerant. We have improved prediction of strength and life from micromechanics. Tools to be given include point stress analysis of Mic-Mac's and Super Mic-Mac+, and structural simulation in Mic- Mac/FEA, 3D Beam, and MMF in MSC Nastran. The training is targeted for material and process engineers, designers, researchers and teachers. Extensive data on carbon/epoxy composites are available, with emphasis for aircraft and wind turbine blades.
Based on experience gained through 4 Stanford online tutorials and 2 JEC- sponsored Design Forums during the past 2 years, we are offering a new format for the upcoming workshop. For those who wish to receive official transcript of record and certificate by Stanford University, homework assignments must be submitted. For those who do not desire official record homework is optional.
We have as many as 17 highly recognized professional engineers, educators and researchers to present consistent but diversified methods and tools. A 700-page, hardcover Strength & Life of Composites by Tsai et al. (2008) is the course text that is free with workshop registration. Additional viewgraphs with notes will supplement the book. Immediately upon receiving registration, the book will be mailed to and access to download viewgraphs and software packages be made available for each participant. Homework problems are also contained in the viewgraphs.
Each participant will be given one dedicated WebEx connection so he/she can access live presentation from any convenient location. He/she will also receive a free copy of either full-featured MSC Nastran Stanford Edition with 90-day usage, or Simulia Abaqus Student Edition. There will be design problems on composites solved and demonstrated using both commercial programs during the workshop.
Regular online registration is US$500 per person. Fifty percent reduction in registration fee for those who have taken previous tutorial or workshop; i.e., US$250. Fee for official Stanford credit and certificate of completion is an additional US$100. Selected "Jump Seat" participants can earn 8 official Stanford credits and one-on-one tutoring for US$ 4,500.

NOUVEAU ! Les membres peuvent télécharger THEORY OF COMPOSITES DESIGN 17/02/2006 |
