For a total fee of 850 Euros, including one annual membership fee of 400 Euros, each user receives a comprehensive package of IBM PC or Macintosh software with the following common features :
Unprotected software for user convenience
A free copy of the latest COMPOSITES DESIGN, by S.W. Tsai, covering relevant data and formulas
Enhanced software available to members, free of charge
Free world-wide assistance through our service centers
Self-teaching features with built-in documentation.
These software programs are tools for materials/structures design. The same design approach is used for stress at a point in plates, bending of beams and tubing, cylindrical vessels subjected to pressure, axial load and torque. Design with composite materials is no different from that with isotropic materials, although the anisotropic characteristics of composites necessitate that more numbers must be taken into account. While often thought complex and extensive, laminated plate theory is now conveniently packaged into software for the personal computer, making design iterations fast and easy. There is no longer any reason for using the simplistic and unreliable netting analysis and/or carpet plots. General features of the software include:
Combined stresses and multiple loading conditions
Temperature and moisture dependent properties
Curing stresses resulting from laminatio
Quadratic or max-strain failure criterion for describing laminate strength
Limit and ultimate criteria for describing laminate strength
The primary objectives of the Users Club is to promote the use of composite materials through affordable software, accompanying book with instructions and users support. The club brings up the latest developments in the design methodology of composite materials through the free up-dated releases. The club also intends to promote exchanges and contacts between the members of the same scientific community.
Being a member of THINK COMPOSITES Sofware Users Club entitles you to participate to the meetings or seminars organized to choose the area of new developments. The Club will also promote other software related to composite materials developed by individuals, private institutes or university laboratories among the members and will make them available to members at special rates.
